      GIGA 5, GIGA X3, GIGA X7 and X5.

Heat exchanger is located beside the Ceramic Valve and below the thermoblock/boiler. Typically, heat exchanger starts to leak due to scale build up in the Jura machine, picture shown above of the old heat exchanger.

The clearyl water filter and Jura descaling tablets do NOT completely remove calcium sediments from the water.  Overtime, the scale starts to build up mostly in the Heat Exchanger. The primary function of the heat exchanger is to flush the excess water out of the steam and water passages inside the machine. In the Jura espresso machines with heat exchanger such as Z5, Z6, Z7, J5, J6, and J9, hot water is drained into the drip tray once the machine is turned off. Since there is some water left in the heat exhnager as it is NOT completely flushed, the calcium sediments in the water starts to form scale and ultimately cause leakage from the membrane regulator and the heat exhanger inlet.

      Useful Maintenance Tips:

Calibrate the quality of espresso every day simply by using a Shot glass. Espresso collected in a shot glass gives an instant visual check of espresso quality by limiting the size, showing the color of espresso and the thickness of Crema. Order a shot glass free with purchase of a bag of Caffe Bella 100% Arabica blend medium roast espresso beans. Fall in love with espresso all over again,

Regular descaling helps to eliminate 70% of malfunctions and extends the life of the machine. Make sure the Descaling product used is authentic and descaling process covers the espresso side of the system. Using electronic descaling method alone does not finish cleaning of the entire hydraulic system.

Use of Vinegar, R.O water or Distilled water can damage the boiler wall and gaskets.

Have you descaled your espresso machine lately? It is the single most important maintenance for all espresso machines. Cleancaf, Cafiza, Joe Glow, Brew Rite, Pulycaff are products sold as descaler but they contain only Baking soda which is totally ineffective. Use Axor select Best descaler #DSC-6, available on this Internet store. When descaling cycles are missed for several months need more than one descaling cycle to remove accumulated sediment.
